FEB 2003 - E-Business legislation was passed in the House of Assembly. The legislation sets out duties and liabilities of E-business service providers and intermediaries. It makes it an offence to unlawfully interfere with computers and computer systems and creates framework consistent with international standards on privacy of personal information and the use and disclosure of such information.
FEB 2003 - E-business legislation has been tabled before government for debate. It is expected that the legislation will be become law by June 2003. Addressing the House of Assembly, Minister of Financial Services & Investments, Mrs. Allyson Maynard-Gibson stated that the purpose of the legislation is to create a degree of legal certainty necessary to inspire confidence in on-line commercial activity according to legal recognition to electronic contracts.

According to Prime Minister Christie, this new legislation for E-commerce should be on the books before June of this year.
